InFocus Film School announces $25,000 scholarship to celebrate 10 years
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
InFocus Film School launches the largest scholarship in its history to celebrate 10 years of great filmmakers
(Vancouver, BC) October 16, 2020 – To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, InFocus Film School, located in the heart of Vancouver’s Gastown, is offering $25,000 worth of scholarships this fall.
InFocus began in a single classroom with 12 students making documentaries for social change. That was 2010. Now ranked as one of Vancouver’s top film schools, InFocus offers six full-time, career training programs with hundreds of filmmakers, screenwriters, 3D animators, and visual effects artists passing through its doors each year.
Beginning on October 26, prospective students have a chance to earn a scholarship by submitting a portfolio of original work relevant to their program of choice. For film and screenwriting this can range from a well thought out film idea to a full movie, script, or short film. For the 3D, Houdini, graphic design, and visual effects programs, submissions may include original drawings or digital art, or photography. The deadline for submissions is November 15.
“We’re looking for the best of the best,” says InFocus Film School’s founder and CEO, Steve Rosenberg. “We pride ourselves in being a centre of excellence and we want our future students to fulfill that potential. This is going to be our biggest scholarship ever. We want to give talented artists the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Scholarships are available for all of their six programs: Film Production, Writing for Film and Television, 3D Animation and Visual Effects, Compositing for VFX, Graphic and Digital Design, and Houdini FX for Film and Games.
“Don’t put too much pressure on yourself with the application,” Rosenberg concludes. “We take pride in how many students have come through our doors with absolutely no experience and left with an amazing portfolio. Great potential is what we’re really looking for.”
Students can apply by visiting InFocus’s website, infocusfilmschool.com/scholarship.
