NO EXPERIENCE TO PRO IN 8 MONTHS.
No prior experience is needed to succeed in the Game Design Program. In just 8 months of guided mentorship you’ll build the fundamental skills needed, learn the art of game design, master the software, and create a dynamic portfolio including an original video game prototype.
LEARN FROM WORKING DESIGNERS.
Your mentors in the Game Design Program are all industry professionals currently working in the video game field. They bring experience from major studios including EA and Microsoft, mastery of the latest techniques, and industry connections which allows networking opportunities for students.
STUDY GAME DESIGN. GET HIRED.
InFocus Film School students maintain an 87% employment rate. Build a strong portfolio, a game design document, and an original game prototype to showcase your skills to employers. Networking events further ensure a leg up into Vancouver’s booming video game industry.
EDUCATION THAT LEADS TO EMPLOYMENT
InFocus alumni work on everything from massive Marvel superhero films to Oscar-winning dramas to critically acclaimed TV to indie gems. Tours of Vancouver animation and VFX studios give students a look inside the industry, networking events provide contacts and job leads, and classes on career development ensure a polished portfolio and resume. Nearly all students graduating from the 3D Animation program find work in the industry within 6 months. You could be next.
LEARN THE GAME DEV SKILLS TO SUCCEED
Interactive lessons build a foundation of coding, animation skills, storyboarding, and visual art techniques. Take that foundation to create your own game in Unreal Engine, the industry-standard game design software. Alone or with a team, develop a playable game in the first semester. Learn coding and front-end interfaces to polish your game. Small class sizes provide focused, individualized training and plenty of one-on-one time with active, professional video game creators as your instructors.
GET PAID TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE
Multiple triple-A game studios call Vancouver home including EA (Apex Legends, Need For Speed, EA Sports titles), Nintendo Canada, The Coalition (Gears Of War), SkyBox Labs (Halo, Minecraft), Relic Entertainment (Age Of Empires, Company of Heros, Warhammer 40,000), and many more. Skilled game designers and programmers are in high demand in Vancouver. Senior game developers’ pay often exceeds six figures, and even junior positions can make over $80,000 per year.
ACCREDITED GAME DESIGN EDUCATION
The Game Design Program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
