TESTIMONIALS
I decided to attend InFocus film school in 2015 after I decided to make a radical career change from working as a youth worker for a non-profit, into a career of working in the film industry. The class size was very small which ensured we all got a lot of individual attention. I was able to develop my skills in all aspects of filmmaking and ended up discovering a passion for camera work and editing. The teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful in developing our skills and ideas. Because of the skills I developed while attending InFocus I am now entering the film industry as a camera trainee and will soon begin interning on union sets around Vancouver. Attending InFocus was a great decision and has completely changed the trajectory of my life. Thank you Steve and everyone at InFocus!
I completed the 3D animation program and had a phenomenal experience. The instructors truly care about you and your success. If you truly give this program your all for the year they will help you get you to your dream job. I look back and think about how a year ago I was working part-time at the grocery store and now I am a junior animator from my 1 year at InFocus. I am very fortunate to have gone to this school.
I completed the Writing for Film and Television Program at InFocus Film School a week ago and I’m excited to share that I feel fully prepared to find my way and work within the film business. All of the instructors are industry professionals with a deep commitment to story. I left the program with a much better understanding of structure than I went in with and a solid idea about which route will best serve the career I want to build.
InFocus’s Compositing for VFX course offers a lot to learn and practice towards becoming a compositor. InFocus Film School gave me access to the equipment, knowledge, and people needed to find a path into the VFX industry. If you’re willing to put the time in, you’ll do great things and meet great people at InFocus.
I can’t be happier with the teachers we had… They are very knowledgeable, supportive, and helpful. Also, the experience with my classmates was so good, even having classes just by zoom. Thanks for that awesome time!
While I was interested in film, I never had any formal technical training and really despised the idea of having to enrol in another 2 to 4 year film school program upon graduating (not to mention covering the tuition!). InFocus’s program was a great hands on way to learn the ins and outs of basic filmmaking and how to construct a short film. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who has an interest in filmmaking and wants to learn the basic skills to launch a career. You will find future opportunities based on your portfolio of work and through your networks, both of which will get a nice boost through the school.
I came to InFocus with some experience in filmmaking, but from a decade ago. After writing, directing and acting in mostly theatre, I wanted two things from InFocus: 1. to kick-start myself back into shooting and telling stories for the screen, and 2. I wanted to find a community of like-minded filmmakers; InFocus gave me both and more. The instruction, encouragement and support I received is invaluable. If you have any hesitation– just do it! Take the program that speaks to you, jump in, and you will find yourself swimming with new friends and collaborators. In the end, I co-directed a film of which I’m very proud, but moreover, I made new friends, willing to embark on new filmmaking adventures.
I took the Compositing for Visual Effects program in 2017. The course ran for only 3 months, and I was surprised and impressed by how much material was fit into that time! As fast paced as it was, it was never too overwhelming and I quickly gained confidence in my ability to use the tools and techniques I was taught. The success of this course was due to the fantastic teachers/industry mentors brought in to share their specific areas of insight and walk the students through each lesson step by step. Finally, I should mention the friendly, stress-free environment of the school itself. The school’s staff are all very friendly and eager to help in whatever way they can.
Having no experience with 3D but always being something that caught my interest I decided to take the 3D animation program at Infocus Film School. I have learned so much, and was given the right advice for my portfolio- from industry professionals! A few months after graduation I was offered a position at Mainframe Studios. I want to thank the entire staff at InFocus for working their magic! I am still to this day very thankful and highly recommend to work hard!
I joined InFocus when I first arrived in Canada in September 2013, coming from a background of design and amateur photography. From the beginning, I loved the way the whole school team – particularly the director Steve Rosenberg – followed and cared about every single student and every single project we made. Even now, over 2 years later, I’m still in contact with several teachers, alumni, and today’s students, collaborating in projects and hanging out for events and meetings. I’ve also been witnessing a huge improvement in the program structure and the gear made available for the students. A fun way to learn and make new contacts in the business: definitely recommended!
I took a program at InFocus and loved every minute of it. I learned more about filmmaking than I thought possible, my documentary project advanced by leaps and bounds, and the instructor was brilliant. I highly recommend this school to anyone that wants a fun, personalized environment.
I completed the documentary program at InFocus Film School in 2014 and it was a great experience. The teachers were all working filmmakers with a lot of experience in the filmmaking art and craft. The staff was incredibly supportive and the general environment one of creativity and camaraderie. I highly recommend it.
InFocus Film School is an amazing training ground for emerging media makers! Since graduating, the skills I gained through the program gave me the confidence to forge forward in a multitude of creative ventures both in film and arts. The abilities you acquire are transferable to many fields of communication if you are, like me, up for professional adventures. The school itself was an environment of collaboration and creative freedom, with a necessary touch of toughness that motivated us all to get the job done. Highly recommended.
A boutique film school perfect for beginners, hobbyists, and pros looking to enhance their skills. The instructors are professional, knowledgeable and most of all, they care. I took a program in 2010, and it gave me the confidence to start bidding on local work. Fast forward 6-7 years, I now have my own production company (and still use the techniques I learned). I would recommend In-Focus to anyone looking to get into the video production industry.
Props to Steve and the entire team!
I completed the Film Production program and it has been a huge boost to the skill set and services I can now offer to my clients. In addition, the networking and connections that are made through doing a program here are invaluable to any indie filmmaker trying to find their way. Steve and his staff are great fun and the atmosphere at the school is one of enthusiastic encouragement. I highly recommend any of the programs and/or workshops they offer.
The experience was like joining a movie making family. I was given all the tools and support to build my confidence and change careers to make documentaries. Amazing teachers with all of their own styles and experiences that I could emulate and grow with. Now I have no excuse but to go out there and chase my dreams!
