It’s time for the voices of underrepresented people to be heard and their stories told.

The Diversity In Film Initiative supports artists from diverse backgrounds looking to break into the entertainment industry. InFocus Film School is offering $100,000 in scholarships and bursaries to people with a diverse or racialized heritage, members of historically marginalized communities, or those who have faced adversity due to disability or systemic biases.

How To Apply

To begin your application, complete the form on this page. We’ll reach out to you with more details and further directions on how to complete your application.

All applicants will be required to:

  1. Complete an application for one of InFocus Film School’s programs. All Diploma and Certificate programs are eligible. Applicants must meet the admissions requirements for their selected program.
  2. Submit a written or video essay detailing your story, and explaining your interest in the field of study you have chosen.
  3. Maintain an acceptable attendance and academic record while enrolled in the program.

    ELIGIBILITY AND DETAILS

    • All bursary applications and required documents must be received by 5:00 PM PST on May 15, 2021.
    • Applicants must demonstrate their ability to contribute to the Initiative’s goal of providing a voice for underrepresented people and stories. Priority will be given to those with a diverse heritage, members of historically marginalized communities, or who have faced adversity due to disability or systemic biases.
    • InFocus Film School is offering 40 $1,500 bursaries and 40 $1,000 bursaries for a total of $100,000 in scholarships available.
    • Amounts are in Canadian Dollars ($CAD).
    • All winners must enroll in a full-time program at InFocus Film School. All funds awarded will be credited directly to the winners’ final tuition payment(s). Funds cannot be applied to programs currently in session. Bursary winners must maintain an acceptable attendance and academic record throughout the program
    • Bursaries have no cash value and are not transferable.

    • Apply for the Film Production Program

      Complete the online application for the February 2019 Film Production Program.

    • Pitch Yourself!

      Tell us why you want to study at Film and where you plan to go in your career! You may submit either:

      • A 1 to 2-minute long video application. Get creative and show us your style, or just use your phone to introduce yourself! Technical skills are not required.
      • Don’t have a camera? No problem. We will also accept a 500-word essay.

    SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

    • All students who are enrolled or applying to the February 2019 Film Production Program are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
    • There are $10,000 in scholarships available to be split among the winning applicants.
    • Winners will be notified within 2 weeks of the scholarship application deadline. All funds awarded will be applied directly to the winners’ final tuition payments
    • All scholarship applications must be received by 5:00 PM PST on December 12, 2018.
