Sundance Award-winning producer Erik Paulsson (Eve & the Fire Horse, Army of One, Protection) will give you a step-by-step guide through the process of developing an idea, birthing a film, and getting it out into the world. With Erik’s extensive knowledge of Feature Film, Documentary Film, and Short Film Production, this course will benefit all filmmakers from beginners to veterans.

This two-day course will be divided into three parts: Development, Production, and Distribution. Topics that will be covered include: how to write an effective proposal, budget, and finance plan basics, building a team, casting, navigating film markets, how to raise money for your film, film production essentials, and marketing and distribution strategies.

All students will leave with an invaluable package of information that will include template agreements, finance plans, budgets, sample pitch packages, and many other important documents that will help you in the process of producing your next project.

About the Instructor:

Erik Paulsson founded Red Storm Productions in 1999, and has produced and/or directed numerous award-winning films and documentaries including The Edge of the WorldEve & the Fire HorseArmy of OneSay I DoProtection, andIsland of Shadows. Erik produced Julia Kwan’s iconic feature film Eve & the Fire Horse which won dozens of international awards including the Sundance Jury Prize, the only Canadian film in history with the honors. He also produced the feature-length documentary Army of One. Produced for the BBC and CBC, it went on to win Best Canadian Feature Documentary at the Hot Docs Film Festival. As a writer/director, Erik’s documentary series The Edge of the World was the highest rated original programming in the history of Knowledge Network when launched in 2010. His previous documentary Island of Shadows awarded Erik the Leo Award for Best Director of a Documentary and the program was the highest rated program of the year on both VTV and VisionTV.

Cancellation: Please note we have a strict, full fee 48-hour cancellation policy. If we receive your cancellation notice less than 48-hours before your workshop begins, you will not be issued a refund. A $30 administration fee will apply to all other cancellations.

Rebooking may be done at no cost provided 72 hours notice. Less than 72 hours notice will result in a $25 rebooking fee.
