One-Day Documentary Workshop: Interviewing and Sound

Prerequisites: None
Duration: 1 Day
Time: 10:00am – 4:30pm
Capacity: 15 students
Workshop Fee: $119

Register for our hands-on interviewing workshop and discover how you can turn a normal interview into an opportunity to craft an engaging and dynamic story. This workshop complements the skills taught in our One-Day Documentary Workshop, however, it can be taken as a stand-alone course as well.

The first half of the day will feature a discussion on interviewing and how to draw an interesting story from a subject. Topics covered will include how to get a subject to relax and open up, the importance of asking open-ended questions, and how to find a story in an interview.

After lunch, filmmaker Leslie Kennah will teach how to record clean audio with a video camera. Discussion will include the different types of microphones available to filmmakers, along with how to slate, lavalier mic placement and use, and how to record audio on Panasonic AF100 cameras. Students will then be sent in groups to record an interview on the street.

Cancellation: Please note we have a strict, full fee 48-hour cancellation policy. If we receive your cancellation notice less than 48-hours before your workshop begins, you will not be issued a refund. A $30 administration fee will apply to all other cancellations.

Rebooking is available at no cost, provided we receive 72 hours notice. For rebookings with less than 72-hours notice, a $25 rebooking fee will apply.

Workshop is for informational purposes only.

The one-day version of this workshop is no longer offered. This workshop has been expanded into our two-day Documentary Interviewing Workshop
